In Zambia, defilement is an offence contrary to Section 138 (1) of the Penal Code, section 138 of the Code defines the general offence of defilement as applying to any person who unlawfully has carnal knowledge of a girl under the age of 16. This provision applies to all girls, including those with disabilities. The offence carries a maximum penalty of 14 years’ imprisonment.
Cishiko ca Mbabala teamed up with Martha to sensitise people about defilement through a lovely catchy song themed “Muma seelo”.
